@tylerallison92: What’s the best snowmobile going into the 2026/2027 season? The talks are of a super El Niño winter… which could translate to a super good ski and snowmobile season. I want to get back into it at some point so starting to look at sleds, what’s the pick of choice?
Buy a skidoo for reliability and performance. Buy a Polaris for performance and bit less reliability.

If your going skidoo and your actually mountain riding get summit over a freeride. It will be more playful. I’d honestly see if you could rent a Polaris and skidoo on separate trips before you make a decision to buy. See which one you actually feel more comfortable on. Lotta people will say Polaris sucks just because they grew up on skidoo, same goes other way around. Both are really good, both have problems it’s a horse apiece. Setting shocks and getting clutching correct for elevation can make you go from hating a sled to loving it. Most people won’t understand that though. If you don’t wanna pay the price for a turbo sled, don’t. Most people can’t put a turbo sled where a turbo sled belongs and it’s a decent price increase. An n/a 850 can get you everywhere you’d wanna go until you progress. I’m not gonna say a turbo doesn’t help you because it definitely does, but majority of people could ride the same spots/places on an n/a sled and save themselves money. Sit on the sleds you’d be thinking about buying, see how they feel, buy one you think you’ll like, and talk to guys about setting it up to fit your riding conditions. Just my 2 cents. Have fun and welcome back!

850 turbo R. Ski doo is the most reliable machine out there and absolutely hauls ass. As ur easing back in a skidoo is easier to get back into the swing of things. DO NOT get a freeride. Summit Xpert is way easier to ride. Freerides with the 36 inch front end SUCK. Fight u sidehilling and are way more unpredictable then an xpert. I literally have a freeride that I converted to a xpert.

As a long time skidoo rider, buy the Polaris boost. There is no going back no contest.

Doesn’t really matter what ya buy, they all have ups and downs. Your best bet is to rent all three brands and see which one works best for you and price point

I've found SkiDoo dealership support to be unmatched especially in Canada. Dad and I have had breakdowns or minor wrecks on trips riding in Quebec. If we got the sled to the nearest dealership by the time they opened they could turn it around by lunch and you can save a half day of riding.
