@englotforever05: Chapter 77 — One More Memory The next morning, Charlotte woke up early. For a moment, she forgot where she was. Then she turned toward the other side of the room. Engfa was sitting near the window. She was quietly looking outside. Charlotte smiled. “Good morning.” Engfa turned toward her. “Good morning.” Charlotte walked closer. “You're awake early.” “I wanted to see the sunrise.” Charlotte stopped. “You can see it?” Engfa smiled. “A little.” She looked through the window. “The colors are still blurry.” Charlotte stood beside her. “Then let me describe it.” Engfa laughed. “Okay.” “It's beautiful.” “What color?” “Pink… orange… and a little gold.” Engfa smiled. “I wish I could see it clearly.” “You will.” Charlotte gently held her hand. “Eventually.” They stayed by the window for several minutes. Engfa quietly watched the changing colors. Charlotte watched her instead. “You know…” “What?” “I think this is the first morning I've seen you actually happy in a long time.” Engfa smiled. “I am happy.” “Really?” “Yes.” She turned toward Charlotte. “Because you're here.” Charlotte smiled. After breakfast, Charlotte suggested going outside. “Where?” “Somewhere quiet.” P'Den immediately looked at Engfa. “Are you sure you're ready?” Engfa nodded. “I want to go.” P'Den reminded her, “Stay close to us.” “I will.” Charlotte took Engfa's hand. “I've got you.” Engfa smiled. “I know.” They walked through a quiet part of Paris. Engfa moved carefully. Her vision was improving, but she still needed to be cautious. Charlotte stayed beside her. Whenever Engfa hesitated, Charlotte gently guided her. “Step.” Engfa stepped forward. “Another one.” She smiled. “You're becoming my guide.” Charlotte laughed. “I don't mind.” They eventually stopped at a small garden. Charlotte found a bench. “Sit.” Engfa laughed. “Yes, ma'am.” They sat together. Engfa looked around. She could see trees. People. Flowers. The city beyond them. Everything was still slightly blurred. But it was enough. “I never thought I'd see this again.” Charlotte became quiet. “You deserve this.” Engfa smiled. “I know.” Then she looked toward Charlotte. “And I have you beside me.” Charlotte leaned against her shoulder. “Always.” After a while, Charlotte took out her phone. “Let's take a picture.” Engfa smiled. “Now?” “Yes.” “Why?” “Because I want our first picture after your operation.” Engfa laughed. “Okay.” Charlotte held the phone up. They smiled. Click. Charlotte looked at the photo. Her eyes immediately softened. Engfa noticed. “What?” “Nothing.” “Why are you smiling?” “You look beautiful.” Engfa laughed. “Even blurry?” “Especially blurry.”
