there is a version of help that requires you to be a student and a version that just requires you to be a person and at 2am i did not have student left in me. i want to explain what i mean by that. the articles are written for someone with a functioning prefrontal cortex and a problem to solve and enough distance from the problem to read about it and apply the information to their situation. they are written for someone who can move from comprehension to implementation. and i respect that. i have been that person. i have read the articles and taken the notes and adjusted the approach and seen the results and i understand the value of information organized into something digestible. but 2am after weeks of this is not that person. 2am is not a student. 2am is just a human being in the dark who needs something that works on her at the level she is actually at, which is below comprehension, below implementation, somewhere in the body before the brain gets involved. and what works at that level is not information. it is not tips or frameworks or evidence based approaches to infant sleep. it is the knowledge, arriving not as a thought but as something you can actually see with your eyes, that other humans are awake in the same dark. that is not a lesson. it does not require anything from you. it just is. proof that does not ask you to be a student to receive it. just a person. just awake. just here. that was enough. that was everything. #postpartum #newmom #postpartumsupport #momlife #momtok
