@doctor.painkiller: Two Neurologists Reveal Their Favorite Migraine Preventive Medications. Ask two neurologists for their favorite migraine preventive and apparently you’re not getting one answer. His answer: Vyepti. Mine: Nurtec for episodic, Qulipta for chronic. That doesn’t mean these are automatically the “best” medications for everyone — migraine prevention is highly individualized, and the right choice depends on attack frequency, other medical conditions, prior treatments, side effects, insurance coverage, and a lot more. As always this is for educational purposes only, not medical advice- talk to your doctor. We went much deeper into the current migraine treatment landscape — including CGRP medications, Botox, older preventives, and what’s changing — in our full conversation inside The Dark Room, which also includes my migraine courses, weekly live Q&As, expert conversations and the community. #migraine #migrainerelief #headache

Who can afford these? Qlipta is 655 dollars out of pocket monthly and Botox 888 dollars out of pocket for me. But dangerous drugs like gabapentin and others you can get cheaply. Please advocate for us doctors! Patients shouldn’t have to pay these outrageous costs!

Aimovig was LIFE CHANGING and Qlipta has been a good substitute since my insurance wouldn’t cover it anymore.

My neurologist has me on Qulipta for maintenance, and Nurtec for my abortive. I do Botox as well now. I went from 5 migraine days a week to 1! That combination was a lifesaver.

Do either of you have familiarity with NDPH? I have been suffering for 18 months. Failed my first Vyepti infusion in March and worsened significantly for several weeks after

After trying what felt like 100 different meds, the combination of Botox and Vyepti broke the cycle of 420+ days of 5+ pain!

I just started vyepti at 100mg. I went from intractable for 1.5 years to 3 per week (24-72 hours each) with botox + aimovig then ajovy. Serious wear off effect each month. Migralief too. What dose do you see vyepti have most efficacy at?

Qulipta changed my life. I don’t even care that it makes me sleepy, better than feeling like I’m having a stroke 5 days a week!

I’m on qulipta and loving it. Granted it makes me constipated but I’ve also lost like 20lbs on it

can you take qulipta daily and nurtec as a rescue? I heard no because their same class and that would be like overdosing

Are hormone migraines and different beast? Or do you use the same preventatives for hormone triggered?
