@albi.nutrition: The distinction is that most food sensitivities improve as the gut lining heals. I used to react to dairy, FODMAPs like onion and garlic, watermelon, apples, oats, and more — but all of them improved or disappeared once I healed. Removing triggers at the beginning, short-term, is helpful because it gives your body time to heal and reduces flares — but this should happen while you focus on healing the gut lining through food, herbs, targeted supplements, and working on the mind and nervous system part too. Most people with chronic digestive issues also struggle with anxiety or unprocessed trauma, have difficulty expressing their needs and emotions, and the symptoms themselves cause mental distress — so it becomes a bit of a paradox. This is why you need to work on both the food and the mind piece, not just cut out foods and take supplements. Structural intolerance is different — for example, someone might be genetically missing the enzyme needed to digest dairy (the most common example being lactose intolerance). For some people it can also show up as histamine intolerance, often tied to low DAO enzyme activity, the enzyme responsible for breaking down histamine. Food allergies are a separate topic entirely. But from my experience, most people are actually dealing with sensitivities — and those, more often than not, can be improved. #guthealth #guthealing #digestivehealth #digestion #bloating
