A friend stole a few hundred from me while I was homeless after losing my duplex in a natural disaster. She came back almost a decade later. She went to rehab, moved away from the people she was using with, went back to college, and has been clean and sober for six years. She also offered to work out a payment plan for the money she took. So, I am her friend again. Because it takes guts to admit you did wrong, take accountability, and make the hard changes.

see, I keep doing this and all ive learned so far is why I shouldn't. yes, people can change for the better, but that doesnt mean i need to give them access to me in the future. we can both lead beautiful lives forever changed separate from each other.

I did this with someone from high school. We stopped being friends due to them always getting into a relationship and then ignoring me(I mean practically no contact maybe a meme twice a month and we were besties). I cut the relationship off. Then they came back into my life after admitting they were trans and things were great. Then he got into another relationship and ignored me until he broke down and told me the boyfriend was abusive. I loaned him 2k to get out of there. He went through a rough patch and I put off his payments. Then he got into a relationship with someone from the UK. Would only talk to me if she was asleep which bugged me and we never got to play games together. He bought her gifts paid for half his plane ticket, passport, bought a new computer to play with her, a kindle, a gameboy, new clothes etc all while still oweing me. I finally had enough cut him off and told him I still expected payment. Fast forward to today he’s barely paid 500 since he’s only paying $30 a month (he makes more money than me). I have all the documentation and he hasn’t paid this month and is no contact. I know through a mutual friend he has a new job and I’m afraid I’m gonna actually have to file that suit. I don’t think I’d ever give someone a second chance now.
