The egg retrieval was awful. They sugar coat it for sure. TAKE GAS X DAYS BEFORE. The gas pain post surgery is the worst pain I’ve experienced. Also get the auto injector for pio shots I don’t even feel them and I am a baby. Good luck!

you need patience more than anything. Everything takes longer than you think, and you’re constantly waitingfor your period, appointments, bloodwork, retrieval, fertilization, blast results, genetic testing, then the transfer. And nobody really prepares you for the numbers. You can start with a great number of follicles or eggs and then watch it go down at every stage: eggs retrieved, mature eggs, fertilized eggs, blasts, genetically normal embryos. That part is crazy because every little update feels huge. I’d also tell someone not to compare their numbers too much. You can have amazing AMH, respond really well, do everything right, and IVF is still unpredictable. At the end of the day, you don’t need 20 embryos you need the one that becomes your baby. And definitely: don’t plan your entire life around the original IVF timeline because something will probably get delayed😂 IVF is basically 20% medicine and 80% waiting for somebody to call you with a number

Injections are the easiest part. STIMS will fly by. Recovery from the ER is tough! I was not prepared for it. I didn’t feel semi normal until about 5 days post retrieval. Not sure if you’re doing PGT-A testing but that wait was BRUTAL. It took almost a month. Definitely the worst part so far. Best of luck to you 🫶🏻

The hormone rage was the hardest thing for me. I’d recommend clearing out your schedule, don’t make any plans, and make sure you have door dash or uber eats because making meals frustrated me. Everything frustrated me so just know going into it, it doesn’t last forever and you can get through it. Having a beautiful baby in the end is worth it. Best of luck! Here is my ivf baby 💞

It’s all doable. It just is a lot of time and a lot of waiting. Make sure to do things you enjoy throughout the process, don’t just hold your breath. You will get through it all!

I have my two babies through ivf. Eternally grateful. 🩷💙 It’s very hard to watch your body change while taking the hormones for egg retrieval as well as transfer but more egg retrieval. I gained like 25 lbs with all the meds going into pregnancy. I looked pregnant before I was and it’s just a mind fck. If I could go back and tell myself, remember it’s temporary and part of the process, give myself more grace. Because we all have this idea of how we’ll look pregnant. Not to sound vain because of course the goal is to have a healthy baby but it’s just hard! So take it one day at a time! When I did the transfer meds for my second baby I used my frozen embryos and it was a very different, better experience for me. I also used vaginal progesterone and I would DEF ask if that’s an option for you! Best of luck ! 😘🩷💙

people are so quick to share their negative experiences online. it sent me into a huge and bad mental spiral. my doctor had to keep reminding me that there are SO many positive experiences. take it appointment by appointment, step by step. looking at the big picture can be super overwhelming. i am currently 39 weeks pregnant with my IVF miracle after a successful first round. it CAN happen 🥰 wishing you the absolute best of luck!!!💙

26 weeks with my IVF baby girl. It’s not as bad as people make it out to be. Just take it day by day and don’t be afraid to ask your clinic questions, no matter how stupid you think they may seem.

The one thing I wish someone told me was the constipation during and after the egg retrieval. I was DYING. I would start taking MiraLAX every single day when you start the injections

Currently 4 months pregnant with my IVF miracle 🩵 the worse part is the slow wait and your mind during it. Other than that, it went amazing and I couldn’t be more thankful for the option to do it. Don’t let people scare you, it can and most likely will all workout ✨

Three egg retrievals here - the shots, blood draws, ultrasounds, and retrieval were all “easy” for me. The worst for me was the fear of the unknown, constant worry, and hormones. Take care of yourself, stay on the schedule they give you, and ask ALL the questions you want, at any hour of the day. Wishing you the best of luck and I pray you get your baby 🩷
