"little to no skill or training" is the general assumption that makes them so overpewered in writing. Yes anyone can pull a trigger, but hitting a shot at more than 10m range needs training, especially if they're in a gunfight. I still remember how surprised I was not hitting the middle of the target immediatly when my grandpa let me try his air rifle. I can't imagine how hard it'd be with full auto weapons against possibly moving targets. I'd make guns and therefore training harder to access in my world if I wanted to nerf guns, especially since you don't need a complicated reason to restrict/ban gun ownership. There's already great arguments made in real life about that
