Mlindo the Vocalist was incredibly talented a legend in his own way. He had a rare voice, and his songs carried a deeper meaning. You didn’t just listen to Mlindo, you could feel what he was singing. He had the potential to shine far beyond what we saw. Unfortunately, talent alone is not always enough. Without the right support system, management, guidance and genuine people around you, even the brightest talent can struggle. Watching his struggles over the years has been painful. From the outside, it felt like an artist with so much potential was slowly losing the platform that once allowed the world to hear him. Whatever happened behind the scenes between him, Maphorisa and the industry, I wish more people had stood beside Mlindo when he seemed to need support the most.
I had the opportunity to meet Mlindo in 2022. He was there physically, but you could sense that he was going through something. That moment stayed with me. Sometimes we are too quick to celebrate people when they are rising and too quick to disappear when they start falling. Mlindo still has that voice. And that voice deserves a second chance to shine. Talent doesn’t disappear because someone went through a difficult chapter. Sometimes the right support, the right people and one more opportunity can rewrite the whole story.
Come back, Mlindo. Your voice still belongs on that stage. 🇿🇦
