having kids allows you to experience the world through the eyes of a child again. they'll become fixated on a particular thing, usually some kind of animal, and want to see it over and over again ad nauseum. you'll watch every documentary there is on the subject. you'll go to the zoo or aquarium to see it in person and watch their eyes light up. and if you pay attention you'll realize they're right, that animal is really fascinating and beautiful. simple things like jumping in a puddle to see how the water reacts is pretty fun. stopping to bend down and collect rocks or inspect the little insects running around is pretty interesting.

This is so weird to me. I don’t remember being happier as a kid or seeing the world more positively. At 29 I have such a profound love for people and the world that I never experienced as a child. At 10 I was just sad

the secret is you can still do this. you still got work, you still got bills, you still need to clean your house, but you can also go outside to a park, turn off your phone, lay in the grass, and enjoy the sun, the clouds, the sound of the birds. you will feel the nostalgia, but it just means you are there again.

this is so odd to me bc ill never experience this collective feeling of mourning childhood so many people share... mine was god awful and ive only fully become happy and started to see the world in a better light in my late teens to 20s once I escaped the abuse

this isn't true if you live a varied life and your day isn't routine and you experience new and novel things every day its absolutely not true and it's how human beings should live. We were not meant for this sedentary lifestyle plugged into machines like parts. We are the whole machine and we should have all our parts used. We should not be compartmentalized to one role or one thing it's unnatural forest and causes many issues. you should specialize in one skill to make money, but you should have a wide range of hobbies and interest, and constantly be reinventing yourself. Then you won't complain about life the same way most old people do when you're old I'm 41 and already I do not complain about the same things that my peers complain about and it's because I value my inner child and I don't care if people think I'm immature or irresponsible I care about how I feel about myself when I look myself in the eyes.
