@sfchronicle: Dominic Foppoli, a small-town Wine Country mayor with dreams of higher office, faced a potentially career-ruining moment in April 2021 when he learned the Chronicle was preparing to publish claims by four women that he had sexually assaulted them. So he texted Robert Stryk, a friend who specialized in high-stakes political crisis management. Court testimony and previously unreported filings reveal how the two men attempted to cast Foppoli as a victim, smear his accusers and divert attention to a Town Council colleague by threatening to release a sexually explicit video taken without her knowledge. Foppoli has not been charged criminally and has repeatedly denied all the allegations against him, saying that he had only consensual interactions with his accusers and that Stryk operated on his own. Foppoli, who owns a winery in Healdsburg, resigned as the mayor of Windsor in May 2021. In all, 13 women have accused him of sexual assault or sexual misconduct.
