im currently getting benched. im not quite sure what i am doing wrong. a lot of the players missed a practice for the first football game and i did too but she is still playing those people. i get that there is always someone better than me but it just sucks because its really bringing me down and making me feel like i suck. i want to talk to her but im nervous because i dont know what to say. i was put in yesterday but that is because one of the girls who play my position got injured a couple of days ago. im doing the best i can during practice but its really making me not want to play school vb

I'm a college athlete, and my coach benched me every game during my sophomore year. Besides that, I'm not doing so well emotionally, so I took it very personally and always thought I wasn't as good as I used to be and that he didn't need me. Now I'm in my junior year, I still think that, and I don't want to play anymore. Next year I'm leaving the team, and a lot of others are leaving too.

But the coach needs to have the emotional maturity to want to do this. Too many enjoy playing mind games and letting the kid suffer.

Most REAL athletes want to grow and get better. Benching them with no explanation or communication doesn’t help your team. Also, making them run for mistakes is wild. Correction and reps for growth, please! Leave running for lack of effort and conditioning. Agee with you 100%!

My daughters not getting a lot of playing time and I’ve told her to keep working hard but the school team only plays the “club” kids the whole game so she doesn’t understand why when she puts in the work but it’s favorites….

What happens when a player is benched from the beginning of the season with no reason given as to why and nothing to work on to earn playing time.

My daughter tried to advocate for herself and asked her coach, “what can I do to make mat?” (She’s a cheerleader). Coach said, EVERYTHING 🤬

When I went from playing to getting bench, I wasn’t even told. She told the the player going in for me and then that player told me 😁 btw we started losing after that

thanks. the silence from coaches has built up overtime. i definitely have a hard time with this as a player

Yes!!! 1000% agree. It hurts the entire team to bench a player and not help them develop further.

Sometimes it’s nothing but the game flow - don’t worry I’ve hurt enough players confidence. Parents suck and kids need to get thru adversity

Also.. Please stop playing female athletes that cry about not having time. We have a male coach that doesn’t know how to handle emotional girl players and will “grease the squeaky wheel” even though she does not deserve court time. Don’t bench the athlete that worked their ass off to be on the court because the other one is crying about it, and then not be honest with the benched athlete.
