@cate.tracey.coaching: Learning a new language can be challenging if we don’t understand how our brains process information, especially when we lose brain plasticity. Our brains literally become less flexible over time, which can make learning a second or third language in adulthood even harder. But I do have tips to combat this: 🧠 Train your brain every day: listen to music, watch TV and even “narrate” parts of your day in that language 📊 Track your progress: Where are you struggling? Where are you excelling? Are you better at listening and comprehension than writing? (No, just me, okay cool… 😅) 🏃‍♀️Practice to jog your memory: before my French lessons every Friday, I spend the morning listening to French music and giving Linley commands in French (he loves when I say: « Tu veut faire un promenade, Bubbas?! » which means, “Do you want to go for a walk, Bubbas?!”) To which he always says: « oui ! » 🤩 Reward yourself for the small (or big!) wins: treat yourself when you reach your milestones; I’m going to Belgium to take French classes in October, because, why not?
