the problem is y’all don’t realize eating disorders are actual MENTAL DISORDERS. not everyone who is extremely thin wants to be thin and most of them have terrible body dysmorphia so they don’t realize how small they really are. i also think y’all need to stop assuming every skinny person is suffering with a disorder. there’s plenty of us who are just skinny due to genetics and others who are doing due to illness. either way commenting on it will only do harm and no good. saying you won’t ever comment on someone’s body but making this video is hypocritical. you’re grown, do better.

Listen as someone who lost a ton in glp1 and then is now pregnant. Any comment that was geared towards how skinny I was, was like a fucking drug. I ate it up. It messes with your head

as someone who had an ed for years, it's this weird psychological phenomenon where you desperately want to be noticed and recognized for your "hard work", you want people to be concerned for you and bring attention to how things you are, but at the same time the second anyone brings it up you get embarrassed at the thought that someone "found you out" or knows you're not naturally like that and you're doing so much just to look like that

Answer: you just said “I’d love to weigh 2 pounds”. So some people like to be thin and look thin some people like to look strong and healthy some people like curves some people like dump trucks some people like tiny booties. We come in all different shapes and sizes and we tend to judge those who do not look like us or think the same way. It’s wrong, but that’s how it is.

Eating disorders are so much deeper than people who don’t suffer from them realize. SO much deeper. No one sets out to have that mindset, but a lot of times it stems from childhood bullying by trusted adults that shamed your body; decades later they’re so deep into the anorexia and body dysmorphia. I would not be so critical on topics if they’re not fully understood. It is the involuntary need for social acceptance of their body that some people seek, as a way of healing those comments made about their body during those early formative years of brain development.

EDs are a disability/mental health condition and it's not always about seeking attention, honestly the majority of the time it's not. Mine was trauma related and genetic (they do have a genetic component). Also there is currently a MASSIVE rise in chronic health conditions that cause malnutrition and food intolerance because of Covid/Long Covid causing a lot of people to develop things like MCAS, gastroproosis etc. You have no idea why someone has lost a dramatic amount of weight and if they aren't outright asking you to say something and you aren't their doctor or close loved one commenting is weird and likely triggering.

Respectfully, as someone who is in recovery-I understand the sentiment behind this video but we can’t just come online and diagnose everyone with an ED. It’s nuanced and people are navigating new bodies and sometimes, yes, it can create ED behaviors when you’re now in a smaller body. Ultimately-it’s just weird to come online a post a TikTok complaining about this and commenting other peoples bodies. Not everyone likes the ‘you look sick’ comments, not everyone is aiming for that. It’s just complex and deserves more respect than random people coming online and judging other people-especially women.

So I may have a unique situation… But I was on medicine…the medicine helped me with a lot of other things other than losing weight… Helped me focus helped me with my digestive issues… And just my energy levels in general and my sleep…I was trying hard to stay on it… But I couldn't maintain my weight while I was on the medicine…this is just me personally and my personal experience.

It’s a win win for them. They get the attention and validation they seek AND they get to act like they’re the better/more moral person (key word, act)

There was a dr and she said she practiced in Beverly Hills where super low weight is the ideal and the amount of women coming in with shattered wrists, hips, etc. getting hurt and falling was alarming. The future is scary for these people.

Not quite the same drastic thing but I spent about 5-6 months losing extra weight that I had put on and then a bit more. When people noticed I didn’t love it because I just did it for me and it feels weird to have people clocking your body

They want attention but I’m sure they don’t want ppl leaving comments that are mean and talking about how they look gross, etc. they want the “you look good” comments. That’s why they’re posting these pictures… not for the hate.

That’s a common part of having an eating disorder. Anorexia especially. They love to be told how skinny and sick and emasculated they look because it’s positive reinforcement of the disordered thinking. Best move is to ignore them, if they’re not someone close to you.
