If I whirl an object using a string and the string breaks, the object immediately flies off in a straight line. So, if the Sun suddenly disappeared, should Earth immediately stop orbiting and continue in a straight line? But here is the problem: Earth is about 8 light-minutes away from the Sun. Light takes around 8 minutes to reach us. So Earth cannot know the Sun has disappeared instantly... lets redefine what nothing is first .then lets proceed ,Since the planetary motion is due to the wapping of the space time fabric ,what we perceive as gravity on earth is actually earth following the curvature brought about by a heavier body in this case the sun .if the sun was to instantaneously disappear, earth would be the largest body in that particular space at that particular time on the fabric ,hence it would bend the fabric and have other bodies of smaller mass follow the curvature created by it ..take for instance you have a steal ball ,a golf ball ,and a pebble on a trampoline, the steel ball wapps the trampoline and the smaller golf ball and pebble fall into the curvature, now remove the steel ball the gold ball is the largets body it will create a wapping that will have the pebble fall in it ,there is no tangential motion in the higgs field as far as planetary motion is concerned, reseaon why satellites and that ball you are whirling seem to fly away at a tangent is because of weak interaction with the higgs and is is all part of a flow within a predefined curvature 😅
