If you want great writing and storytelling on a cop show look to Furious. Lanterns pales in comparison. Feels like a cheap WB show.

I love how this show handles the silliness of the comics. it's a much more grounded story but it's not afraid to acknowledge the bigger, crazier things going on in the universe and does so respectfully. Like the Mogo mention, a lesser writer would probably try to make fun of Mogo as a concept but here Hal just brings him up and the "Mogo doesn't socialize" bit as just a casual inside joke about a coworker. Now I just hope we get to see Mogo at some point.

I love that you are looking at this with "fresh eyes," and you aren't focusing on the established lore like so many other people. This show seems written for people to jump right in without a ton of backstory. I have all the faith that they won't leave loose threads.

I love your hearing from your perspective as a non-comic reader... as a comic fan the show is cooking on all cylinders... they're introducing potential Red lanterns versus yellow lanterns versus Green lanterns... sinestro is Green lanterns number one enemy and he lives breathes eats and sleeps fear which is the opposite of the Green lanterns

This is a mix of the 1970s Green Lantern Green Arrow comics and later older Hal Jordan comics. John Stewart is an interesting twist because in the comics both he and Guy Gardner were pet projects of different Guardians. Stewart was a true backup to Hal to start with and he was an architech before he was retconned to be a former US Marine. Most people know Stewart as the main GL because of the 1980s and 90s and animation. Interesting note the first GL is Alan Scott and he is notably not a member of the Green Lantern Corps and his power is based off of magic. Green Lantern is a long history of DC comics.
