I met Amy Tan when I was invited to style her in her home in 2021. We spent 6 hours shooting and dancing to ABBA! It was beyond. I cried a few times because she is one of my favorite authors. ❤️

I’m not Asian. I am Pacific Islander. And I remember seeing The Joy Luck Club in the movie theater and crying because it was the first time I saw representation of women of color. I will forever be grateful for this movie.

That movie adaptation came out when I was in college and as an Asian-American kid, it was a big deal getting representation like that in a mainstream film.

That movie changed the trajectory of how I saw not looked at Asian women. From the culture, food, language, music, clothing, war, travesty, heartbreak, trials and suffering they went through. I saw from a woman's prospective of what life was like for them even after they came to America. Their sacrifices each one went through. Such a wonderful movie. Cried through and through. Talented artists !
