@maythematics: I’m still incredibly grateful for the support and incentives being introduced, and I truly appreciate Singapore taking meaningful steps forward to support families. ❤️🇸🇬 At the same time, I hope we can also have an open conversation about how these policies affect employers, especially SMEs. My intention isn’t to criticise the support given to parents, but to raise a few practical considerations on how we can make these policies sustainable for both employees and employers. Because ultimately, supporting families shouldn’t come at the expense of businesses — and supporting businesses shouldn’t come at the expense of families. If we can solve both sides of the equation, I believe that’s when these policies can create the greatest impact. ❤️ #childcare #singaporechild #governmen

Manpower can always be adjusted accordingly. You can hire parttime teachers to cover one another as backup plans. The increased CCL is only few days leh and typically staff dont go on leave at the same time, shouldnt be a big issue leh😂

As a mother of 3 working full time, leaves are not enough for me to take leave when my child is sick, when the school call that my child needs to be fetched because of injuries/sick, first day of school p1 and s1, competition (because I want to be present during the important days) , school orientation, receive Psle results day, 3 kids sick a different time (someone to bring them to the clinic) . On top of that , in term 4 , there are 12 days of non school days due to Psle or admin or home based learning. It’s sad to hear this from someone with three. I can understand why birth rate is going down in SG. With birth rate going down, lesser business for tuition too

Curious, how often do you go down and work at the office? 5 days a week, 8 hours a day? :) or do you ‘work from home’ . I often find that management who have remote options tend to complain a lot. Th

You’re concerned with the new policies as a business owner, not as a mum of 3 - it’s fair of course but please don’t mislead viewers by starting your video with “As a mum of 3…”

how about male teachers doing 3weeks of reservists every year? It's also a manpower issue.

Calculating a 60 days deficit by multiplying 10 parents by 6 days is pure badfaith math because statutory leave is staggered across a full 12month calendar year. If an operational model completely collapses because staff take standard leave that points to poor workforce planning rather than a flaw in government policy. Furthermore business owners earn net profits specifically because they absorb operational risk and coverage demands. Asking employees on fixed salaries to absorb those business risks by forfeiting statutory benefits completely flips the fundamental employer employee dynamic on its head. Finally using a personal experience of unfair replacement during pregnancy to argue that leave makes workers less competitive is just victimblaming and internalized bias. Statutory protections exist precisely so employees do not have to choose between their career and starting a family.

Government is indirectly supporting ur tuition centre! By introducing this ccl, it encourages more couples to give birth, and with increase in birth rate means more prospects for your tuition business. Otherwise, low birth rates how your tuition centre survive in long run? Remember - think long term

thats why as a business owner , you need to think out of the box when policies are changing. your problem is very small as compared to low TFR.

Problem 1 - If you want to run a business, you need to brave yourself for changes like this. Govt policies are evolving and if you can’t tackle such issue within your means, you are not cut out to run a business.

this is a very unhelpful mindset. it can be mitigated with contingency planning, regularly trainings and fine tuning of systems. for you to just jump the gun and feel strongly enough to make this video is concerning.

I think the problem is your thinking that being a parent with childcare duties is a burden to begin with. Maybe it came from your own trauma of being labelled as less competitive. It is just a season of life, nobody will have 12 days forever. If the employee is good and has their basic needs met, the employer don’t need to worry that they become slack or less competitive. It’s sad that you were on the receiving end of it, but hearing the way you describe problem 3… feels like you need to relook at your own perspectives on parenthood and season of life. Culture is changing.. maybe you gotta leave what’s in the past behind too.
