This happened to me!!!!! I had salivary gland STONES!!!! Didn’t even know this was possible!!!! Went to ER and got the normal scans done and they were able to identify it immediately. Gave me medicine and it was cleared up within a week!!! Absolutely insane experience. I looked just like you!

hi ❤️I'm going to try to be brief & also not add to your fear/hopefully help you feel better & get to the right Drs but first I'm going to explain a whole lot of medical stuff to hope help me explain why I even feel like I should reach out to you 🙏🏻 ok having said all that, my oldest son was born 35 years ago with extreme lymphatic malformation (cystic hygroma/lymphangioma) on both sides of his face, starting at his soft pallet and extending down to the bronchial tree, other than knowing he was in respiratory distress, the Drs had no idea what his condition was & other than a tracheostomy to save his life, there was not much else they could do for us, I didn't believe them & the Cliff's notes version is that an amazing Dr named Raymond Smith who was primarily an oncology surgeon, heard about Harley's rare case, took us on as a patient and then got us to the right Drs who were able to do the surgeries he needed to be able to thrive & he's had multiple surgeries here in Oklahoma City where we live, Medical City Hospital in Dallas & at the Children's Hospital in Little Rock Arkansas... I feel like I'm blathering but please feel free to message me & I'll give you as many names and numbers as I can recall throughout our 35 year experience with this...and again, I'm only reaching out because you specifically said the dr told you it's lymphatic malformation 🙏🏻 if it's something else then please know that I'm only reaching out with the purest and best intentions to help. I know that fear in your voice & I'm so sorry ❤️sending you hugs and comfort 🙏🏻

I’m a retard RN of 28 years and I absolutely positively cannot diagnose you. But it looks like a clogged lymph gland or a clogged saliva gland. I think you should go back to fun and maxillofacial surgeon. That can be drained or removed. So again, I would go to a maxillofacial surgeon and consult with them. That’s the type of doctor that you need.

This is not embarrassing for you. This is embarrassing for our healthcare system yet again….. why in the world would they bypass you and not help you with this not biopsy yet? Anything to give you some kind of comfort or even referred you somewhere that could take care of things… that is so incredibly half ass of them and subpar… honestly that’s mean like that’s legit mean to do to someone. And if they refuse to treat you, then they better refuse to bill you too.

My dad is a neuroradiologist- he says you would be able tell by MRI if it was cancer, so if you’ve had it scanned- don’t worry, biopsy not necessary. But he also says to go to a reputable teaching hospital ER, probably your best bet to figure out what’s going on!

My husband had the exact same thing— hodkins lymphoma (not trying to scare you!!!) advocate for yourself and get a biopsy.

I do not have any answers for you…BUT I have had clients who have had unexplained illnesses and have gone to the Mayo Clinic in Florida and have gotten answers when they could not get answers elsewhere. Girl, I work in pathology (pathologists’ assistant). Please go to the doctor And DEMAND they biopsy it. Even if they don’t know what it is based on the histology, they can send the slides out for consult to different doctors that will know what it is. This is unacceptable, especially for a mass that size. Regardless if it is benign or not. So sorry you’re going through this🫶🏻

ER might be the fastest to get the imaging and consults you need. The rapid swelling can affect your airway, it should be taken seriously.

Hey girl! Where are you located? I think I saw Dallas in the comments. I’m a dentist and I’d try an oral surgeon but one who does cancer cases (not saying it’s cancer) and not just wisdom teeth and implants. I’d try UT or A&M as both have OMFS programs. There’s a lot of overlap with OMFS and ENT and plastics. Often in those residences all 3 specialities share call and cases when appropriate.

anyone that told you there's nothing they can do is just wrong. If standard primary care doctors or general practitioners have stated that nothing can be done, the best next step is to seek an evaluation at a Vascular Anomalies Center or Vascular Malformation Clinic at a major academic medical center or children's/tertiary hospital. These specialized multidisciplinary teams consist of interventional radiologists, ENT surgeons, geneticists, and hematologist-oncologists who specialize specifically in managing vascular and lymphatic malformations. I am pretty sure that you will get results and you will be very happy you did this!

find your closest teaching hospital. find like a literal Gray's anatomy type resident who is eager to find an interesting case. my best friend got diagnosed with MALS. it took her years. she ended up going to a teaching hospital in Texas. found a doctor just like this and it has improved her quality of life 10-fold.

I’m not a medical professional, but I have had my parotid salivary gland get blocked several times over the past 5 years and it looks a lot like what you’re experiencing. This pic is from the last blockage, which was mild. If you want to try something while you wait for your next appointment, buy some super sour candy and if you feel any pain, it might actually be as simple as a salivary gland blockage. 🤞🏻🤞🏻 I’m so sorry that the medical community is giving you the run around and hope you find answers ASAP.

Hi. I am a RN and feel quite confidently that since multiple providers agree with the diagnosis, then stick with that unless further evaluation says otherwise. Please know this is not super common condition. If you have a congential lymphatic malformation this tends to require multiple providers involved. First your Primary Care needs to be in charge of helping coordinate appropriate treatment to ensure you are getting help. So utilize them. Plastic Surgery, Vascular Surgery, Interventional Radiation, even Dermatology and Hematology/Medical Oncology are often part of that team. Find a dedicated 'Vascular Anomalies Center' -- contact Mayo Clinic or John Hopkins or Arkansas Children's Hospital Vascular Anomalies Center of Excellence as it is probably one of the best and apparently treats adults too! I do know you can usually self-refer to Mayo though your health plan may require a referral, and the clinic will often prioritize your appointment if records are shared with them. Now...if you do start developing respiratory symptoms like shortness of breath, or trouble swallowing --> get to an ER. Start making calls and see what you can do to get into one of these dedicated centers.
