@cbcmanitoba: Manitoba Premier Wab Kinew says the province of Manitoba 100 per cent supports the Canadian government's decision to back out of trade negotiations with the U.S. Prime Minister Mark Carney told his negotiators to walk away from the table after the Trump administration introduced late unacceptable demands on culture, autos and sovereignty that, in combination with their overall approach to talks, revealed the U.S. was not interested in a "true economic partnership" with Canada. The federal Liberal government estimates the tariffs will impact about $27 billion worth of Canadian goods and put about 56,000 jobs at stake. Carney said he's concerned about how the failure to secure a deal with Trump will impact ordinary people and promised to do whatever is required to help support businesses harmed by the tariffs. "We'll be releasing details of this early next week — alongside our tariff actions — to support these businesses, and we will support these businesses for as long as it takes; in other words, beyond the life of this administration," he said. #mb #winnipeg #usa #canada #tariffs

I support this honey 🍯 farm but for the past 2-3 years the Canadian Federal government has gone to Europe and Asia to look for new markets and they have encouraged Canadian businesses to expand their market so why did this honey farm focus their business solely on US?

I understand that this is a hit for them but they haven’t even bothered to try selling to Canadians. They only sell bulk orders and only market to the US. Help us help you, my dude.

We need a website that shows Canadian products that consumers can buy from. I know I want to support local honey makers. I am only one person, but imagine if every Canadian bought one jar of local honey.

People don’t realize the volume of trade that happens from Canada to US. They have almost 10X the population and the most purchasing power in the world. People can talk about expanding trade as much as they want but you can’t replace the US consumer demand, not even close. If you’re lucky maybe 10% and that’s a stretch too. They have majority of the leverage, our politicians need to stop acting like Canada is some crazy superpower and get something done instead of provoking the states more and more

Government tariff, subsidy, loans, etc. Why does the Premier keep talking about the problem instead of the solution?

A tariff war is definitely going to hurt but those who oppose it haven't really offered any solutions other than bending over for the US.
