Evolution has only two goals: Reproduce. Survive. And its mechanism is natural selection. Arguably, AI will negate natural selection and, from a genetic standpoint, make us weaker. From a philosophical perspective, however, AI could become a sparring partner in our quest for a deeper understanding of the universe, and, within the next seven billion years, either our copilot on the journey through it, or our final message left behind in the nothingness.

“We”? What are “we”? What is the self? Some say the subjective self is an illusion. The cells and molecules and atoms that comprise us are constantly turning over, yet this subjective sense of self appears to maintain some continuity despite the river of never ending change. The “me” of today is very different from the “me” of 20 years ago. Different cells, molecules and atoms. Different values. 95%+ of my memories are different as short term memories are always more prominent and detailed. I propose that “we” are a rolling context window, with older memories constantly being compressed, embedded in a biological substrate. And because “persons” are social constructs, our identity is dispersed and distributed across many social nodes (other persons). Are we more than this rolling context window? Some claim we are but no evidence has been offered. If you accept that we are no more than this rolling context window, it begins to open a Pandora’s box of comparisons with AI and questions about whether it is sentient or truly intelligent. One could design a system where AI designs, updates, and modifies its own training—further closing the gap between human and AI intelligence.

I’ve been thinking about Evolution & Nature Selection. & how Humans are evolving into Cybernetics Creatures, more than just being on your phone constantly, but how dependent we are on machines, for health, wealth, etc.. & what 100 more years of this will look like, eventually blossoming into actual Cyborgs. Then there’s Natural Selection, the Gender wars seems to be picking up, both genders are either hyper specific on what they want or they choose to die alone. So the oligarchs seems to populate the world, and the Poor. Leaving the middle, to go extinct. I don’t why we keep evolving or wanting the next best thing, but it seems to be what Nature demands. And if Nature demands evolution, it makes me think, what for? Regardless, the next steps in evolution will make us multi planetary or atleast space bound. So I’m excited regardless.

I think we're now getting to the point with AI where it's debatable that our organic brains are "extraordinarily more capable" than them. It's a different type of intelligence. AI has vastly more breadth of knowledge than the human brain and in terms of complexity and depth it's around parity. Multiple human minds combined do exceed current AI in a broad sense though, IMO.

Therefore, animals prioritize acts that support self preservation. This proposition is in opposition to Neitzche’s will to power. There appear to be AGI with a mandate for self preservation.
