I’ve played this with infinite lives and it’s STILL difficult AF. It was wild, zany, and original, but it had no difficulty scaling. Just flat out difficult from square one. The baby boss is a perfect example. It had no measurable means to overcome its speed or power. Just brute force and luck to beat it.
