a cut has three stages; the measure, the mark, and the cut. if any are off or messed up in any way, and those mistakes are repeated throughout your build, they'll add up to a faulty construction. (just summing up what this guy said)

I'd also say thay because every tape can read slightly differently, you should try to makensure your using the same tape for measuring and cutting whenever possible. Not just a tape of the same brand, but the exact same tape.
