"Somebody That I Used to Know" is a 2011 hit by Belgian-Australian artist Gotye featuring New Zealand singer Kimbra, from his album Making Mirrors. The song draws from Gotye's real breakup experiences, blending melancholy reflection with a hypnotic riff sampled from Luiz Bonfá's "Seville." It became a global smash, topping charts in over 20 countries including the US Billboard Hot 100 in 2012. Gotye (Wouter "Wally" De Backer) wrote and produced it, using xylophone and beats inspired by "Baa, Baa, Black Sheep" for its art pop sound. Kimbra, a fan of Gotye, added the powerful counter-verse after he reached out to her. Song - Somebody That I Used To Know Artist - Gotye ft. Kimbra
