Landlords are people too. They work, pay mortgages, property taxes, insurance, repairs and maintenance, and many are simply trying to build a little financial security for themselves and their families. They’re not all wealthy corporations with hundreds of units. There’s also a huge difference between a decent tenant being a few days late once because life happened and someone living in another person’s property for six months or a year without paying rent while the landlord is still legally responsible for every single bill. For a small landlord renting out one house, that can literally bankrupt them. Tenants absolutely deserve protection from bad landlords—but landlords deserve protection from bad tenants too. The system should protect both sides, not allow one person’s financial hardship or refusal to pay to become another person’s financial ruin. And frankly, if you sign a lease and continue living in someone else’s property, paying your rent on time is not an unreasonable expectation. If you simply refuse to pay your rent, the landlord should not have to spend the better part of a year fighting to regain possession of their own property. That isn’t fairness. That’s a broken system.

Well if this is true then I’m fucked. I pay rent according to my pay days ! Every two weeks on a Friday. Nothing I can’t do plus I have my other bills like car payments and car insurance.

Landlords should be taxed to fund government housing. Tax rate get determined by how much they are charging compared to the appraisal/worth of the property.

Many people are living from pay check to pay check and this doesn’t give any room for people to maintain paying for their rent even if they are a little late. This is unfair!! There should be something in place to assist those who can pay rent but are late due to their pay not falling on a pay period. I think this will put more ppl homeless and create a bigger problem!! We need someone with brains and creativity to make changes that are equally fair for everyone

I always pay my rent a day or two early so I'm not personally worried about this! I am however concerned for those hard come by! Nobody deserves to be homeless!

Landlords end up going bankrupt when they get a bad tennant so yes this is long overdue . There are a lot of professional renters out there who take advantage over and over

The people dosen’t have money to buy groceries and gas, housing market is almost 50% down because nothing can’t be sold, and they putting rules if you are late in payments. I see renting will go really bad. Good luck with your rules.

you should not be able to be evicted for having a late payment even if you do 30 of them as long as you pay your rent that month all they have to do is add a fee if they're late which makes the money
