@alexandramilne_: Why I eat “boring” food (and it changed everything for me) I eat pretty simple, plain food most of the time. Not because I’m disciplined because it makes my life easier. The more palatable your food is, the more you tend to think about food. I’ve seen this play out with clients and myself. Highly palatable meals fast food, sugar and fat combos trigger you to want more of them. Not weak willpower, just how palatability tends to work on your brain and appetite. Whole, simple foods tend to do the opposite. Stick with it for a while and your palate actually shifts. The cravings, the food noise, the constant “what am I eating next” it can ease off and you actually start to crave higher protein, fruit and whole foods. This isn’t a rule for life, it’s a tool. Bulking and trying to eat more? Lean into tasty, palatable food, it’ll keep your appetite up. Cutting? Go simple. It’s easier and more accurate to track, and it takes the excitement out of eating (when you’re already hungry in a deficit) which is exactly what makes a diet sustainable instead of miserable. Dieting is hard enough without your food working against you. Not forever. Just a tool for when you need it.
