Hmm, he genuinely seemed concerned about her welfare and he never did anything bad to her. Maybe he was possessed or, his brother was haunting him? Or, indeed his brother is a vampire and he's his caretaker. He had to wake up before him so he could feed him, to make sure she wouldn't get turned. It's really creepy and so strange.

She said she couldn’t find any proof he existed online but the first thing I’d do is check property records. See whose name was on the house deed. A lot of people don’t have social media but every property has a public record.

All I can think is Damien from the Vampire Diaries. The old inherited house, the mirrors and no pictures (vampires don’t have reflections), the closed off areas of the house. The animals and townspeople fearing him. That’s my thoughts.
