Fall is less than one month away! 🍂 If you’re craving all of the fall feels, here are 5 of my all-time favorite US destinations to visit in autumn: 📚 BOSTON, MASSACHUSETTS One of my favorite cities in the US… and it’s at its best in the fall!! Grab a book from Brattle Book Shop or Beacon Hill Books (one of my favorite neighborhoods!), then head to Harvard for a walk through campus before plopping down on the lawn to read all afternoon. (Find a good tree, à la Rory Gilmore.) Grab a cozy pasta dish in Little Italy, a cocktail from the Map Room Lounge at the Boston Public Library, or find yourself a dark corner of a great speakeasy like Hecate. If you have time, take a day trip to Salem for witchy shops and history along the coast! (Just note that it gets really busy the closer you get to Halloween!) 🍎 NORTHERN MICHIGAN I may be biased because it’s home, but Michigan is one of the best and most underrated fall destinations!! There’s an endless number of gorgeous spots filled with gorgeous color: Pictured Rocks, the Porcupine Mountains, the Tunnel of Trees, Traverse City, Saugatuck, Mackinac Island (an all-time favorite). And no shortage of fall activities either… wine tasting, cider mills, corn mazes. This may be controversial, but even after visiting New England… I still think Michigan has the best cider and donuts in the country. 🫣🤷🏼‍♀️ 🍁 VERMONT You can’t talk US fall destinations without Vermont. It’s synonymous with the season for a reason. Woodstock and Stowe are picture-perfect… get a famous maple creemee (the maple sugar sprinkles are a must), visit the local maple farms and cider mills, and see as many covered bridges as you can. If you want a peak leaf-peeping afternoon (literally), take the gondola up Mount Mansfield for gorgeous views with wine at the top, then drive down Smugglers’ Notch on the way home blasting Noah Kahan. It doesn’t get better. 🚕 NEW YORK CITY Autumn is always my favorite time to visit New York City. It reminds me of being in a Thanksgiving episode of Gossip Girl or Friends (the Thanksgiving episodes are always iconic!!) Central Park is one of my favorite spots in the fall. I love sitting in the park with a book and watching the boats paddle by, then grabbing an outdoor patio spot at Tavern on the Green to people watch. West Village and Greenwich Village are also go-tos for bookshops, thrift stores, and wandering! 🧣 LITCHFIELD COUNTY, CONNECTICUT I did this trip last year as an homage to my ultimate autumnal comfort shows, Gilmore Girls, and it was one of the coziest trips ever!! I stayed in Litchfield - a cute town with great shops and restaurants - and rented a car to explore Kent, Washington Depot, and New Milford (the real-life inspiration for the Stars Hollow town square!) Grab lunch at the famous Mayflower Inn, get a sweet treat from Arethusa, then grab a ticket to Hollister House Gardens for a beautiful fall afternoon full of color. Which one are you adding to your fall list? 🩵 📌Make sure you save this for future travel planning!! (I also have travel guides for many of these places on my website!) #falltravel #fallgetaway #usatravel #falldestination #cozyseason
