I strongly condemn the reports of brutality, violence, and the killing of innocent people in Uganda. No government should use violence, intimidation, or excessive force against its own citizens. Human life must always be respected, regardless of political affiliation, ethnicity, religion, or personal beliefs. Ugandans have the right to live in peace, to express their opinions, to assemble peacefully, and to participate in the political process without fear of being beaten, detained, or killed. There must be accountability for every unlawful killing and every act of abuse committed by security forces or anyone acting in authority. Allegations of orders or involvement by President Yoweri Museveni, General Muhoozi Kainerugaba, or other senior officials should be investigated independently and transparently, and anyone found responsible must be held accountable under the law. Uganda belongs to its people—not to an individual, a family, a political party, or the security forces. Power must never become a justification for taking innocent lives. I call for an immediate end to violence, respect for human rights, protection of civilians, and a genuine commitment to justice and accountability. Our disagreements must never cost us our lives.
