I drive through summerland the other day, I don’t see one house in the city limits that burnt down. I’m glad no one’s house burnt down but I feel like the evacuation was a little overplayed. They should have been back in a couple days. This would have prevented this kind of thing.

I remember this being a really big issue when they had to evacuate in west Kelowna years ago. So disappointing, taking advantage of the most vulnerable is despicable.

People who pillage those affected by a disaster should be prosecuted and laws changed so that the perpetrators receive hefty prison sentences.

This was my biggest concern when my dad returned home. Thankfully the fire stopped at the edge of his property and no thieves entered. I can’t imagine adding this trauma on top of the evacuation, especially the kids 🥺.
