@njapoet: For the record, this was hyperbole. I don't think there are very many bodies buried in the Modesto canals. But also I'm not sure. 🤷‍♂️ The moral of the story is that there will always be time to look beneath the surface. But first, notice what’s happening on it. We write the way we see and part of becoming a better writer (and quite possibly a better human) is learning to stop and pay attention. Take little snapshots of the world before the moment disappears. Live like this, and if you have the time, take a picture or write a poem or paint what you saw. This breeds gratitude, and the art that is derived from these moments is how we leave our indelible mark upon the world. #poetry #modesto
