@inolivetrees: Sliman Mansour (سليمان منصور, 1947–2026) was one of the most important Palestinian artists of the modern and contemporary era. His work was deeply connected to Palestinian identity, land, memory, displacement, and steadfastness (sumud صمود). Through his art, he became a major figure in creating a visual language through which Palestinians could represent their homeland and national experience. For Mansour, the land was more than something to paint. He worked with mud, clay, straw, and other natural materials sourced from the land itself. The earth became physically embedded in his work: its texture, fragility, and cracks carrying their own meaning. Palestine was not just the subject of the art, but something materially present within it. Mansour passed away today, August 24, 2026, at 79. But the visual language he created of people carrying home, of land holding memory, of beauty persisting through hardship, will continue to live on through generations of Palestinian artists and all those who see themselves in his work. الله يرحمه #slimanmansour #palestinianart
