it's safer to back into a spot vs backing out into a parking lot where there are people, kids, etc.

so easy to pull out and see everything in front of you instead of having to twist yourself around and use small mirrors

My son (26) reverse parks all of the time. He's an EMT and they have to reverse park the ambulance every where they go. It's in the event they have to get out off a situation in a hurry.
