I was a commercial fishing boat captain from 2010 to 2021. I retired after a horrific, tragic maritime accident. ohhhh yall have never seen whats really out there. the sharks are the least of your worries. the craziest is squid fishing for Humboldt at night. other things pop up that you didnt realize even exist. lights, creatures, sounds, mer-maids and mer-men. fish the size of the length of my 38 foot long boat. once you lose sight of shore, your no longer on planet earth. its an entirely different world out there.

After spending almost a decade at sea with the Navy, I don't swim in the Ocean anymore. I won't won't go out in the ocean on a boat smaller than a 100ftr. Talk to any Navy veteran, they'll probably say the same thing.

have a good buddy who was a navy diver. when he got out of the navy and had kids. they wanted to go to a beach. he said okay no ocean swimming. he told me that there are things in the ocean you dont wanna see or know about.

One of my students is 6 years old and I mentioned the great white is the largest species of shark and he was like “no, the megalodon is.” And I said well megalodon is extinct like the dinsoaurs, and he replied “nobody has any proof of that, for all we know he’s still out there.” You know what kid, you’re absolutely right about that

I was out up to my neck past the break of the waves and a turtle as big as a Volkswagen surfaced right beside me and I never saw it coming. Last time I was in the ocean. You are in their habitat like chum from a bucket.

I don't like the ocean. love looking from land, but I'd rather stay out of it. I envision a fish tank. Fish will grow as large as the tank allows. they adapt to the size of their living environment... now think of the ocean as a giant fish tank

Funny story about 15 years ago I went swimming in the ocean on a paddleboard got way out from the beach and next thing I know lifeguards and police were screaming at me . I thought what’s the big deal I’m ok I can swim so I paddled back to the beach not realizing they’re were a pack of great whites 5 of them right under neath me . Haven’t been in the ocean since !
