my mother helped many married women find loopholes to get their own credit cards so they could have a credit rating of their own as that needed to be in place if they were ever suddenly on their own. Some of the stories of the loopholes they used are hilarious

I heard about this as a kid. In the 1990s when equal pay for equal work became a law I was so excited! To this day it has never been enforced😡

When my grandfather cheated on and left her - the banks refused to put the mortgage. Sears was the first place to give her a credit card. She passed when I was in 10th grade. It was really not long ago at all
