Dive next to me as two of the largest predators on the planet, sperm whales, swim down checking me out. Spinning in the deep mimicking their body language I acknowledge their approach and give them my attention and respect. I am both excited and open to their approach and that feeling of connection felt as we all respond to each others movements and I also respectfully maintain space by swimming back a bit, not to regect their approach, but rather to assure I can control my movement and not risk kicking them as they approach my fins while we sink together. First video clip filmed by my dear friend @nomadicaddictt who put the trip together to assure we had the necessary permit and authorized guides for this incredible experience. He is doing wonderful work with people around the world and genuinely makes the world a better place both in his work and by just being himself 😊🙏🩵 While I’ve been fortunate to swim with sperm whales around the world, they are forever fascinating to me. So unique to any other whale I’ve encountered and seemingly larger than life, they also have a unique and special presence. The history of human interactions with whales (even currently for some countries) has been one of bloodshed and population decimation. We owe it to the previous generation for putting a stop to whaling for most of the world and my hope is that THIS generation can do the same for sharks; because, like whales, who are important for the ocean ecosystem and also beautiful to spend time with, so to are sharks. Thank you for supporting shark and marine conservation, for appreciating important predators of all sizes and shapes, and enjoying my looong run-on sentences of you’ve made it this far 🙌 props to you for not having a short attention span 🙌💕🌊 #savetheocean #giantwhales #whale #whalediving #sharkid_tam
