@chriscerney: Flock Safety cameras are increasingly being used by law enforcement agencies as a tool to identify and search for vehicles connected to investigations. The systems can capture license plates and vehicle characteristics, record when and where a vehicle was observed, and allow authorized users to search those records. Some Flock products also offer tools that can compare sightings across locations, search by vehicle description or image, and identify vehicles repeatedly seen near one another. Flock says its technology can help law enforcement investigate crimes more efficiently. At the same time, the expanding capabilities of automated license plate reader networks have prompted broader questions about privacy, data retention and how information collected in public spaces can be searched and shared. This report takes a closer look at what the technology can actually do. #FlockSafety #Privacy #LawEnforcement #MontereyCounty #LocalNews

Gandhi_Warhol :
I heard that some people were spraypainting over lots of license plates of random cars to make this system completely ineffective. Why are they doing this? isn’t that considered destruction of property ?

They use up a lot of data by volume by the way and it’s one of the drivers for all the data centers being propped up.

Why are people mad. This is a good thing. I have nothing to hide. It will help if crime is committed

You Film in Public... As do many others it's not a private space. we should be more concerned about our phones 📱 just my 2 cents 👌 flock does indeed help catch the "bad guys"

...if you're doing nothing wrong, your images will stay in cyber space... and thus, your movements and anonymity remain for practical purposes. When we've created a society where average citizens value protecting criminals, demonizing Police and "getting away" without consequences for their bad behavior. This is merely leveling a playing field that glorifies antisocial behavior and makes victims of the law abiding. Flock cameras can technically make people think twice before committing crime.
