![This clip is longer than usual, but I encourage everyone to listen to it in full. It’s such a beautiful recitation اللهم بارك وزد تلاوة خاشعة مطمئنة والله. I wanted to highlight two things with this recitation: the meaning of the ayat & the qari implementing a sunnah that’s often forgotten. These ayat are a powerful reminder that Allah is never unaware of wrongdoing and at the same time, consoling those who have been wronged. When the wrongdoers are given time and provisions in this world, don’t assume it means Allah is unaware or indifferent - it’s deliberate and full of wisdom. “إِنَّمَا يُؤَخِّرُهُمۡ لِيَوۡمٖ تَشۡخَصُ فِيهِ ٱلۡأَبۡصَٰرُ - He only delays them until a Day when ˹their˺ eyes will stare in horror” There’s also a firm reassurance that Allah جل جلاله would never fail in His promise to His Messengers and every soul will be recompensed for what it has earned with justice. The passage concludes with “وَلِيَذَّكَّرَ أُو۟لُوا۟ ٱلْأَلْبَـٰبِ… - and so that people of reason may be mindful.” May Allah allow us all to be among them. Secondly after ayah 50, the reciter softly said “معاذ الله” practicing a Sunnah that is often neglected. Hudhayfah رضي الله عنه said: “I prayed with the Prophet ﷺ one night and he recited in a relaxed manner. If he passed by a verse glorifying Allah, he would glorify Him. If he passed by a verse containing a request, he would ask Him. If he passed by a verse of refuge, he would seek refuge in Him.” [Muslim 772] In another narration: “When he passed a verse mentioning punishment, he would say: A‘ūdhu billāh min al-nār (I seek refuge in Allah from the Fire).” [Dawud 873] This is something we can all begin implementing in our own salah, especially in qiyam layl.
