It's legit, only way for kids to establish whats enjoyable vs whats isn't is modeling it after parents. If you wont frame chores as agony there is no reason for kids to not like them. (The only reason is if you already screwed up the kids dophamin levels with phones and ipads, and they physically cannot focus)

I started doing all my chores at 5am (to avoid family) and it got soooo much better and relaxing. Cleaning my room and the bathroom without anyone saying “youre not rubbing hard enough” when I am, thats just a scratch. Hell washing the dishes became my favorite part of my day, without both parents yelling at me for the entire time. And now no one has a problem with my quality (aside from complaining they never see me work, which is the point)

I once said to my mom that when i was younger I never understood some of the rules/chores that we had as kids. one example is I was doing my own laundry before any other kid I knew learned how, and it was the same with cooking and doing what I now know is basic life skills, but what as a kid I thought was just unfair cuz none of my friends had to do them that young. I mentioned this and my mom looked at me and said "ok, but do you know how to do them? yes. when your sister went to college she started charging people $10 to put their laundry in the wash. they paid the quarters for the wash, they provided the laundry soap and everything. she didnt even fold it, she just took the baskets they brought to the laundromat, put them in the wash, sat there until they were done, moved them to the dryer, finished it, put them in the baskets, and handed them back to the college students. she made a lot of money just because she knew how to use a washer and dryer and they didnt"
