the only rule on this is dont really agree with is "no plus 1 if we havnt met the other person" we had a an issue lile this withy wife's cousin. to set the stage my wife and I have been together 14 years and married for 4. my wife's cousin was planning her wedding and openly told my wife that her and my daughter were invited to the wedding and reception but I wasn't because her fiance hadn't met me. bearing in mind we had invited both of them to our wedding but her fiance declined because he had work. my wife stood her ground and told the cousin that she wasn't happy about that and if I wasn't invited her and my daughter wouldn't be going. when the rest of the family found out what had happened they sided with us. the cousin eventually called off the wedding because she found out her fiance had been cheating. to this day I've never had an apology from the cousin for the way she treated me and we dont talk to her now outside of family functions.

I remember my (now) ex-wife kicking off when my sister got married because my sister hadn’t invited the ex’s mother and brother. My sister had never met them. She made life so difficult about it that I had to plead with my sister to invite them. She did, and they never showed up.
