Exactly! I recently checked into a private psych clinic for a six-week inpatient program to treat CPTSD from 10+ years of severe DV and multiple sexual assaults from my teens into adulthood. Before I went, I specifically asked whether there was anything in the other patients’ histories that could trigger my CPTSD (as I was the only female patient there) and was assured they were all “good guys” and thoroughly vetted. I later found out some had pending sexual assault charges, while others had been in the media after pleading guilty to violently assaulting a former partner. I raised concerns that some of these men seemed easily triggered by women speaking up and that doing group therapy with them wasn’t safe or therapeutic for me. Instead, I was encouraged to “share my female perspective” to help teach them. I explained that in real life, I deliberately don’t associate with men like this anymore, and I wasn’t going to put myself in danger challenging their fragile narratives about being “rejected, judged, abandoned or man-hated.” I told the clinic point blank: I’m not your guinea pig. So I left, my treatment stopped, and the grown adult man babies got to continue theirs. My actual psychologist said this is a complaint across the country, putting victim-survivors in with offenders and expecting them to “do therapy together”. Anyway, your video reminded me of what I said to them. I’m married to a woman now and I just don’t associate with men.

Interestingly AFL and WAFL attendees are very similar - approx 39%. This is crazy to me. Why aren't women supporting the WAFL? At least lift this stat to be 50/50. Imagine if all those woman supporting the AFL went to WAFL games.... wow what a message that would send.... but we all know, this will all be forgotten soon and nothing will change.
