i’m born and raised in melbourne and 100% agree that australians just aren’t interested in making new friends, they stick with the same circle of friends they’ve had since high school. i fell out w a large chunk of my friends from school and it took years and a ridiculous amount of effort to integrate myself into a new circle of friends, and even though ive been close with them for years at this point, i still feel like an outsider to a point coz they’ve all been besties since the age of 12. it’s hard out here girl so i feel for you, one of the worst parts about australians imo is how insular they are w their social circles

Yeah no South Australian here. That comment missed the mark completely. Australia is very cliquey and it is very hard to make friends. Americans aren’t everyone’s favourite but it is absolutely more difficult here to meet friends. I’ve seen the same videos from Europeans and Canadians about the issue

The comments you are getting like that are from lefties here that are simply being rude. You can make friends - through work settings, or sports.. Australia is a lot easier than some other countries that are less outgoing.

Okay to better understand the situation can you elaborate how you made friends in the USA that weren't from your high school, tertiary education or work. Maybe then we can see where the issues are in Australia or whether it's the same everywhere lol

I don't think that comment is true, but your post about Aussies being hard to make friends with is true, I hear it all the time from expats living in Australia, not just Americans.

That’s weird because I’m not American and yet I have the same issue, people have for friends they’ve known for years and you’re trying to break into those circles repeatedly. It’s bloody hard.
