Spot on. Until we dismantle racial quota systems in education, root out systemic corruption and move past an insecure, protectionist mindset, we will never reach 1st world status. Malaysia had the head start and the resources to surpass Singapore but bad governance held us back.

there must be new breeds of politicians who are patriots. we lacked it because the nature of how political parties are run, there are certain people in political party are above the law and the court has no jurisdiction to curb such practices. therefore the smart citizen shun away from politics. then we only have many mediocre members of Parliament and head of political parties leaders.
