The more complicated debate concerns how Ancient Egyptians should be understood in terms of ancestry, ethnicity and appearance across thousands of years of Egyptian history. But describing Ancient Egypt as an African civilisation isn't a matter of opinion. Its geography, history and development are rooted firmly on the African continent.
