Buddy D :
Unfortunately, the world has changed since I was younger as far as values what people hold as sacred or important. I'm admittedly a Gen X guy so I still hold doors, pull out chairs, walk on the inside when we're going down a sidewalk, I pay for dinner, I pay for drinks, I take out the garbage, I mow the grass, I'm a protector of any woman in my life when it's needed. I attempt to balance that with being respectful that some women have done things themselves for so long that you can't just barge in and take over in any aspect. Somewhere in this day and age of social media people traded friends for followers , they value comments from strangers over conversations and prioritize content above real life experienced. This virtual world constantly misrepresents what real life is through videos and content and it is and has been a deteriorating factor in face to face interaction and respect. From my perspective, the value of life has dropped and people are more concerned with being versus doing right. In the past this was something that fell heavily on the men who were raised to respect, protect, support and provide the women in their lives with whatever they needed. There's a gray area that lies within what I just stated that allows for any woman to do those things for herself but as men we should still offer. Eventually, men stopped offering which meant the younger males looking up to those men for the example of how to act and respond saw bad examples and it continued to deteriorate to where we are today. I recently saw a statistic that was representing unemployment in various groups and scenarios, and there's actually a scenario of males who have college degrees who do not have jobs and are not looking for jobs. I can't remember all the math but the number was very surprising
