I’m sorry for your loss, and it’s heartbreaking that he passed so close to your birthday. That’s heartbreaking. But at least you were able to give him a good life! And he improved yours as well! From my experience, focusing on the positives like that got me through it. My dad got me a chihuahua/pom mix when I was 12. She was in his front overall pocket. It’s funny how I didn’t know she would be my best friend for the next 14 years. She got me through middle school, high school, abuse, grief, battles with infertility- she was treated as if she were my child- she was like a sassy toddler and would ‘backtalk’, so her attitude matched a three year old’s perfectly, haha. She was part of my wedding. She got me through divorce and reconciliation. And I finally had a baby and was so excited to introduce her to her brother- but she was limping when we got home from the hospital. Vet kept saying arthritis- but it ended up being osteosarcoma/bone cancer. I didn’t like the vet she seen. He accused us of running her over at the last visit, until he did an xray. Then the way he treated her after she passed from the shot made me mad. She passed away two weeks after my oldest was born. That was almost 8 years ago, and she still holds a big space in my heart. Her name was Paris. Dogs are so much more than pets. They really are family. My late husband (he passed a few months later) got me this, he said so she can continue sleeping next to me. 💔 Also, I had a dog I named puppy too when I was in elementary school. He always knew when I was coming home and he would wait for me to get off the bus.
