what about 500k in great stock that eventually falls? nothing wrong with diversification. 500k yielding 4% is the same whether in 3 or 10 companies. the issue is not more vs fewer shares. it's how much of your outcome rides on being right about the stocks you've chosen to buy

Volume is actually the key. A good dividend paying stock is also the key. At most, get nothing more than 5, keep stacking up with a cleared target unit and thank yourself later.

Just note that many investors arrange their portfolio in line with their risk appetite. Considering a risk management strategy that aligns with the investor's appetite as wrong and biggest mistake is not advisable.The position also presumes that a new investor has the maturity and experience to identify and focus on a few right stocks.. Besides, what does a normal portfolio of a mutual fund look like?
