To me it just highlights the extreme wealth inequality in Ghana. I know people in Ghana who have groceries flown to them weekly from the UK while their neighbors sleep in roofless houses. In a country where average income is 300 dollars a month, How does 10 dollar matcha make sense?

The airlines are doing it too. My flight to Accra in 2019 December was 980$ United airlines. Bought that ticket on 20th and traveled on the 22nd. Hotels prices were reasonable. Now tickets are 3k plus and that’s regular economy with just a bag

The lack of price regulatory bodies especially for the private sector is also a major factor. Every business once they get a bit of buzz and traction would alllll of a sudden raise the prices.. and target only the luxury market 😪

Content creators make it easier for people to discover a place and understand what to expect, but at the same time, constantly putting prices out there can sometimes make businesses adjust their pricing because they know a certain audience is willing to pay more. I think it’s really about finding the balance between promoting Ghana and unintentionally contributing to the rising cost of experiences here.

I dont think its greed Ghana have always based their prices on currency... its always been that way .. i dont know what the currency has been like in the last 15 years but ghana in 2011 the pound was much higher than the dollar now the different is not much.

sales in Accra are not good because of the low wages, however in those three or 4 months. they can make revenue for the year. it's a better option for them
