@unbox_factory: Meta is expanding its Hyperion AI data-center campus in Richland Parish, Louisiana, to approximately 5 GW of compute capacity, with total investment exceeding $50 billion. The campus is planned to reach nearly 10 million square feet, making it Meta's largest data-center project and one of the biggest AI infrastructure developments in the world. The scale is extraordinary: 5 GW equals 5,000 MW of continuous power capacity. Meta's project is so large that Entergy is planning additional generation and grid infrastructure to serve it, including seven new natural-gas generating plants, three grid-scale batteries and nuclear uprates. Meta says it will pay the costs associated with the energy, water and infrastructure used by the project and that its agreement with Entergy is expected to generate more than $2 billion in customer savings over 20 years, in addition to an earlier $650 million benefit. The project is expected to support approximately 7,500 construction jobs at peak and around 1,000 permanent operational positions, while also requiring major upgrades to roads, water and wastewater infrastructure.
