@notasweplanned_podcast: QUESTION OF THE WEEK 👀 If your child’s dad isn’t going to be there and they’re being left with his new girlfriend instead… should you be able to have your child back? What would you do? #QuestionOfTheWeek #Coparenting #Parenting #BlendedFamilies #NotAsWePlanned
that's an absolute no from me - should obviously be a point of discussion with agreement from both parties but I feel that if any parent can't have the child in their time, the default is the other parent

thing is with EMS workers is there rota's are predictable or should be so if he's a whole time FF, is he working 4 on 4 off? need some more background because she should suggest potentially changing it so he has their son on his off days to avoid this issue if it makes mum uncomfortable. Before anyone mentions the word routine, your kids should be fine between households and in a child arrangements case it's literally if both parents are able to do dinner bath bed, get them to school/nursery/pick them up and not the semantics of "TV time at 5pm"

No. She needs to see them as a household because that’s what they are. They can split childcare between them as needed depending on work commitments, that’s what a household does

The people in the comments saying no are insane, if dad can’t have his child it’s in the child’s best interest to be with their own mum

Yes she can it’s deffo something that can be put in an order . And explain that dad isn’t always exercising his parental rights and is allowing someone who hasn’t got pr parent . In the uk there isn’t a law called the first refusal but can be placed in order that This happens anyway .

have a discussion with your ex what’s the point. Of it being dads time if he isn’t with the kid if the mum can have him then he should be with his mum

100% i would be asking because if younare free to have him rather than your ex partner. I wouldnt want to have such precious time wasted with someone else

suppose it depends how close the little boy is with his partner. I think this is fine as one offs or couple of hours but if dad isn't there at all he may as well be at home with his mum. maybe a more flexible schedule would work better so his dad can see him around shifts. not always do able of course

legally, no. it's up to her ex who has him during his time. morally, it's worth a discussion, as long as you do it nicely.

I’d love if someone offered to do the school run and look after my kids for nothing. Most of the time it costs a fortune.

I understand mums frustration. But it’s dad’s parenting time… maybe he is working? ❤️

I think the little boy needs routine and structure, dad is lucky partner is working her shifts to support.....this would probably be the case if the child was theirs.
as a mum it is soooooo difficult knowing another woman is with your child when dad's not their but if the child is happy and safe I can't see any harm in this happening.
Mum needs to create a life for herself when the child is not their, hard I know, I bought a dog, walked, read, had uninterrupted bubble bath, the girls round etc.... you can't upset the child's routine just because your lonely.
